Winter is here!
Especially in the north country with single digits and below zero temps. Our skin is our biggest organ and we wear it on the outside like a wet suit. There is no doubt that the environment can, well make us look like frosty the snowman if we are not careful. So here are some tips to keeping your skin looking alive and well.
Moisturize and Protect. Most of us keep lip balm applied before we venture out or inside where we combat dry heat but what about the rest of our skin? Now I’m not saying you should apply lip balm to your whole face but face cream is a must in the winter. Whether your inside or out. Toner also offers a benefit we forget. Other then refreshing, it allows aprox. 80% of your moisturizer to penetrate your skin deeper. This makes it more effective and saves you money. If your outside in this weather for recreational activities I highly suggest you apply a lotion that has a weightless silicone barrier. My favorite is Barrier Repair by Dermalogica. This Helps protect against wind burn and frost while your out hiking, skiing, or snowshoeing.
Also keep hand cream by your sinks and put it on under your gloves… chapped skin is no fun and hurts 🙁
So don’t let winter keep you in or keep you looking Frosty!
