It’s Holiday Season and that means Holiday Parties!! Your eyes are the mantles of your face… so dress them up!
The question this month is… How can I get a good Smokey Eye? The answer is simple once you know what it is. So here we go. A smokey eye is a technique not a color. You can us e almost any shade, but I would suggest a darker matte shadow for the most impact. Eye pencil, shadow, or cream works well too, but no matter what you choose, make sure you have a good base or primer so your smokey eye doesn’t look like a bad smolder by the end of the evening. Don’t be afraid to put your eye primer below your lower lashes too. any place you apply shadow apply primer if you want it to stay!
Once your base is on use a firm yet soft small tipped blender brush, about the size of a pencil eraser. If using shadow apply a small amount at a time and work from the outside corner of your eye in. On your bottom lash line include your water line and blend in a back and forth motion with short strokes adding more color when needed. Be careful of fall out shadow, tap your brush and proceed with caution or its going to get messy. Now the top. Same as the bottom but blend up a little to fade into your lid. You should have already applied a bone and hi-lighter color, if not do so to complete the eye. If using a pencil or cream you will apply and then use the dry brush to smudge the product. It will be less messy and give you a more solid look! Now add mascara and your smokey eye is done. (If wearing false lashes you may need to smoke out the eye a bit more as the lashes sometimes hide some of your handy work.)
Charcoal Grays are my favorite but have fun with blues, browns, greens and even plums! Who am I kidding, I love it all!
Here’s a thought– Don’t attempt this the night of the party. Practice it a couple times, it will be worth it!
Rock it… Beauty Queen!
